What to Do If a Tree Falls on Your Home

Admin • January 2, 2017
Big Ben’s Tree Service in Jacksonville has tips to follow if you have had a tree fall on your home.

Measures should be taken so that it is impossible for a tree to fall on top of your home. However, these things cannot always be prevented, and there are certain actions you need to take immediately if your home ever gets damaged from a tree.

Leave the Premises

You want to check in with everyone else in the household to make sure they are OK. Leave the house for the time being. The tree might still pose a threat, and you do not want to be near it. Leaving the property is especially important if the tree also took down a power line with it.

Call Your Insurance Agency

You need to inform your insurance agent of what just happened. Many times, your homeowners’ insurance policy will cover the price of removing the tree and repairing your home.

Contact Tree Removal Experts

Never attempt to remove the tree on your own even if it is relatively small. Always contact a professional tree removal company to handle this. For emergency situations, most companies will be able to send out an arborist quickly.

You can prevent this from happening in the future by making sure trees are located away from your home and that you remove a tree as soon as it starts dying. Learn more by calling Big Ben’s Tree Service at 904-641-1131
